Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga, also known as the Yoga of Awareness, consists of simple but effective yogic techniques which strengthen the nervous system and balance the glandular system resulting in increased vitality and a deeper sense of awareness and connectedness in the individual. It is a complete science which uses the breath, yoga postures, sound, mantra and active meditations as tools for self-transformation and personal development. These techniques can be practised by anyone regardless of age or fitness levels.

Kundalini Yoga was brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan in the late 60s when he realised that the rapid change taking place in the world was taking its toll on society resulting in deteriorating mental and physical health. In doing this he broke with a long-held tradition of secrecy where these techniques had been passed on verbally from master to chosen disciple down through the centuries. These classes offer an introduction to the techniques and postures of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, and to a tiny selection of the kriyas and meditations he taught, of which there were over 8000 in total.
