Meditation
Meditation is about stilling the mind so that we can access a deeper part of our nature. Everyone has had meditative moments, those quiet moments of peace when we look at a beautiful sunset, for example, or go for a peaceful walk in the mountains.
Why Meditate?
Perhaps the most important benefit of meditation, however, is that it gives us a spontaneous joy, a joy which comes from within and is not dependent on life’s precarious circumstances. By stilling the overactive mind during meditation, we can access the deepest part of ourselves, the source of this spontaneous joy. Our consciousness is expanded, and gradually we see the amazing interconnectedness we have with the Universe – we are then pursuing the path of Yoga, or union with this Universal Consciousness or God. This state of union has been described in different traditions as samadhi or nirvana, or mystic contemplation in the Christian tradition.
Heart-Centred Meditation at Lotus Yoga You need no previous experience of meditation to enjoy the classes. The techniques are easy to learn: focussing on meditating in the spiritual heart centre or heart chakra, relaxation, mantra, breath awareness and concentrating on objects such as candles and flowers. The course is structured with an emphasis on integrating your meditation practice with today’s busy lifestyle.
Our meditation classes are given free of charge, as was the tradition in former times in India, in the belief that inner peace is every person’s birthright and not something that can be bought or sold. The meditation teachers give the classes as a way of sharing the benefits they themselves enjoy through the practice of meditation.
To register for the courses, please visit dublinmeditation.com and get in touch via the contact form or please call on 085-1450880. Thank you!
